 Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is there any discomfort during laser treatments?
We apply a topical anesthetic cream that helps minimize any discomfort. The cooling spot on the laser wand, combined with soothing chilled gel, results in little discomfort for most people.

  • Is laser hair removal permanent?
The follicle is either destroyed or damaged, resulting in permanent hair reduction. After you complete a series of 5 treatments, about 80% of your follicles are destroyed, and any remaining hair will usually be finer and lighter. Most patients require one or two touch up treatments per year. Results vary based on other conditions such as hormones that cause excessive hair growth.

  • How does laser hair removal work?
Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle in its anagen, or active phase of growth. For this reason very light hair does not respond well, so it is recommended for darker hair. The laser light is converted into heat, causing thermal damage to the follicle, without harming the surrounding tissue.

  • How many treatments do I need for laser hair removal?
Only 30% or less of your hair may be in the active growth stage at any one time depending on the body area. Thus a series of treatments will be required to achieve the long term improvment you desire. We recommend a 5 treatment package, and additional treatments as needed.

  • How does laser skin rejuvenation work?
Using multiple wave lengths, the skin is treated both on the surface and beneath the skin. The surface sweep targets pigment in the skin to break up pigment. For wrinkles and skin toning, the deeper wave length stimulates collagen regrowth.

  • How many skin rejuvenation treatments do I need?
A series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart is our standard recommendation. Some individuals will opt for additional treatments, or periodic occasional maintenance treatments.

  • When will I see results from skin rejuvenation?
Results are cumulative. Ater the first treatment you'll see improvement to broken capillaries, small facial veins and some pigmented areas within a few days. Other improvements such as wrinkle reduction and toning will be more subtle and may take one to three months. Friends may suggest that you look more rested. With each treatment subtle changes will accumulate.

  • How does laser vein treatment work?
The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in your blood and collapses the unwanted vein. The laser energy is delivered through a hand-held device with a cooling tip that protects your skin.

  • How many laser vein treatments do I need?
Most patients see excellent improvement after just two treatments. Everyone responds differently to treatments, with some needing only one treatment and others requiring a third treatment. You can optimize your results by closely following the post treatment instructions. The usual treatment interval is eight weeks.

  • How does acne laser treatment work?
Laser light kills the bacteria that causes acne, as well as diminishing the red skin tone often associated with acne.

  • Is acne laser treatment effective?
While results vary from person to person, a clinical study indicates that over 90% of patients treated experience marked reduction in acne lesions.

  • How many treatments do I need to treat acne?
Effects are cumulative. You may see improvement after just one treatment. The number of lesions and severity of break-outs should reduce over the course of treatment and beyond. Some patients continue to improve two months after their last treatment. The typical course of treatments is 4 treatments spaced from 1 to 2 treatments per week. However, your medical professional might recommend a different treatment schedule.
